When one is totally jobless, one should make this list!

The lovely childwoman invites us to discuss the contents of our respective fridges, and the optimist that I am, I have certain reasons to believe that you must be definitely interested in knowing what occupies my fridge, so here we go!!!

  • Karele ki sabzi ( bitter gourd veg): Made by mom before leaving. I eat a little bit everyday, hoping to make it last as long as possible.
  • A small bowl of Kadhi: Made by yours truly. And we must confess we have tried to make this particular dish at least 4 times before but still haven’t got it right! Hmph
  • Kiri cream cheese: Because it goes well with the garlic toasties from “Angels in my kitchen” and forget that, I can eat it anytime!
  • Eggs: 5 in number. Either part of a hurried breakfast or a late dinner!
  • Milk: Because I am obsessive about chai, really. I have convinced myself that if I don’t have my routine evning cup, I will fall ill/ faint/get tired…all of the above.
  • A packet of frozen peas: Because the real ones aren’t available right now, and even if they were, I just couldn’t be bothered with the whole peeling, cleaning thing!
  • A packet of frozen malabari parathas: For the Boy. He loves them. I do too, but it sounds cuter this way ;)
  • A lot of curd: Beacsue most recipes I do know and practice, require curd!
  • Butter, amul asli pepper spread, some more strange cheese cubes that I have no idea who got coz I certainly didnt.
  • ITC “Taste of India” spreads: Apple and cinnamon ( out of this world!), peach and something ( have forgotten) and one bottle of strawberry preserve
  • Some veggies like cauliflower, bell peppers, tomatoes, green chillies, corriander and lemons. I have no idea why I have the cauliflower either as I haven’t cooked it ever, but thought it looked nice so picked it up ( !!!)
  • Chocolates: Because the Boy has taken it up on himself to keep the fridge full of them. And he doesn’t really care for that waist size, ( sigh!), so am not complaining!
  • Some bacon and salami ( Note to self: Throw away asap, must be a hundred years old!)
  • Little bit of sprite/limca - for the vodka bhai!
  • A packet of bread
  • A bottle of green olives
  • Soya sauce, chilli sauce, ginger garlic paste
  • Beers: 6 in number. Remains from Sunday’s party. And while we are at it, it must be mentioned that it was a rocking noon party with the gang, where the Boy and I cooked chicken, we all drank beer and played cards. Meaning 3 patti. I hope no parents read this. The Boy and I invested 20 rupees each, he won about 100 and I won 50, so we are feeling quite rich!

That’s as much as I can remember. what’s in yours?

I’ve got lots of cheese!

Spiced cauliflower is lovely with ginger and chilli. it’s the only indian recipe I ever tried.

Where did you get malabari parathas, I love those… I was trying to convince my south indian neighbor to figure out how to make them, even though she’s the dosa south indian variant… If I want them, I usually have to go to swagath or one of the mallu restaurants on the back side of INA… they have some amazing beef stuff there, if you like/want to try beef.

@anjiknut: I have no idea what you are talking about! I don’t know rhe indian way of making cauliflower…yet.

@Renovatio: arrey its very simple. I get these frozen ones close to home, you just have to warm them up on the pan and u r set…and the good side is, they actually taste lovely…

Would love to try the beef…..we should make a plan with the delhi blogger gang and meet up! I’ll get u the parathas!

How I miss home!
The fridge that used to be in the all-time-open part of the mess has also moved into the part that is open only during the meal timings, and so we’ve lost our device to keep the beers cool till late in the night. Now we are forced to waste the drinking water from the cooler for this purpose (but we do it only sometimes. Responsible citizens, you see :P)

haha, I loved the party and the cards part more than the fridge. Would love to do exactly that.

Oops, sorry. Your food sounded indian to me; where are you from?

Have a lot of Konkani food in the fridge. Names, don’t ask. Cannot identify. what i can tell you is that they are yummy tummy. Since I’m crashing in with a konkani friend for a while, i get home cooked food. And let’s not complain about that.

hehe…you called them bell peppers..
and I wanna do this, will do it soon..
